Journalism in New Zealand
Staff writer, then deputy editor at Lifestyle Publishing, focused on feature writing for New Zealand's leading outdoor adventure magazine. I helped create the country's first trail running magazine.
Awards
Two Ossie Awards for an investigative article I did while I was at university (2010). The Bruce Jesson Foundation's Emerging Journalist Award (2012). And I won the MPA Journalist of the Year Award in the sport and leisure category (2012).
Professional achiements in Germany and Europe
Shortly after moving to Europe, I moved away from traditional journalism and to communications. My first position was as a content editor at zooom productions in Austria (April, 2015-October, 2016). I was part of a small team that created a new digital magazine for Suunto. In 2017, I started a freelance business and began working as a permalancer for Suunto as a content editor and copywriter (2017-2023). I had a crash course in ecommerce while employed by Internetstores as a content editor. (2021-2023).
Personal achievments
A yogi at heart, I've completed more than 1000 hours of yoga and mindfulness teacher training courses. I set up and ran a business as a mindfulness yoga teacher and taught around Heidelberg. I've organised four yoga retreats to date.
Being active in the outdoors is where it's at. I've run two ultra marathons in NZ, the Heidelberg Trail Marathon in 2014, and walked the Camino de Santiago long distance trail three times. My family and I have spent three winters in the Algarve where I worked remotely and learned to surf again.
